Harbor Village CommunityThe Normont Terrace Coordinating Council has been serving the communities of Los Angeles for over 20 years. We serve over 1500 kids and 500 parents each year. Club membership is available for boys & girls between the ages of 6 – 18 with No membership fees for the Harbor Village residents. We provide youth and parents with access to, and use of, all facilities, programs and services the Harbor Village Youth Club, and the Boys & Girls Club of the South Bay have to offer.
Normont Terrace Coordinating Council (a non-profit public organization)was created by a group of people elected by residents from the Normont Terrace public housing project in 1986. The Housing Authority, impressed by the residents' initiative and desire to improve their surroundings, began a search to hire a firm to develop Normont Terrace.
The result was Harbor Village, a complex that combines low-income housing with affordable middle-income housing. At Harbor Village, all residents have access to an on-site fitness center, clubhouse, computer room, two 25-meter pools, basketball courts, and three "tot lot" playgrounds for small children.
Through the Harbor Village Project, the Normont Terrace Coordinating Council has created jobs in Southern California and is filling a housing need for people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to live in decent dwellings.
